Yangon, Jan 3 (IANS): Myanmar will host the 62nd ASEAN Coordination Committee on Investment in Nay Pyi Taw next weekend, state media reported Friday.
Dozens of investment officers from member nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will attend the two-day meeting Jan 10-11, Xinhua reported.
Matters related to amending the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Treaty, amendment of unpermitted accounts included in the treaty, and ongoing work programmes in implementing the treaty will be discussed at the meet, said the New Light of Myanmar.
The committee carries out promotion of investment in the region, smoothing and relaxing rules and regulation, and encouraging further flow of investment from regional countries.
It acts as a leading supervisory panel for implementation of investment commitment and cooperation among ASEAN, and dialogue partner countries, the report added.
During Myanmar's one-year term of the ASEAN chairmanship, more than 240 regional meetings are scheduled to be held in Nay Phi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan.
ASEAN adopted its Vision-2020 in 1997 and is striving for establishing ASEAN Community in 2015.
