Dubai, May 9: She is a star singer from Goa. When she walks around the street, whether it is in Goa, Mumbai, Dubai or elsewhere, people instantly recognize and greet her. She has the charisma to attract the people. Undoubtedly she is the queen of Konkani music and a living legend.
Lorna is here in Dubai on special invitation. This is for the first time in the Gulf she has been invited by a Mangalorean organization. The only other instance of her performing on Mangalorean invitation elsewhere was in Mangalore last year. On that occasion, she mesmerized the Mangalorean crowd."
"Mangaloreans are among the beautiful people I have seen. I loved performing in Mangalore, and they are music-crazy and loving people...I love to perform for any Mangaloreans. Music knows no barriers and boundaries. So I feel I am here for everyone who follows Konkani music," said Lorna while speaking exclusively to daijiworld, at the residential apartment in Karama, as a guest of Mangalore Konkans Dubai, a leading Mangalorean Konkani association.
The Mangalore Konkans' event 'Me-Ga Konkani Concert' will be staged at 6 pm on Friday May 12, 2006 in the Indian School auditorium, Karama.
"We wanted to prove that the Mangaloreans love Goan music and the Goans love Mangalorean music. There is no discrimination between us. We all are one and united," said Valerian Peris, the event co-ordinator of Mangalore Konkans Dubai.
"Lorna will be the centre of attraction and we are sure she is going to mesmerize the crowd," he says.
Apart from Lorna, leading artiste Aniceto from Goa will also perform. Norman, a regular musician for Lorna will also be part of the show.
Prominent Mangalorean artistes will be Claud D'Souza, Reena D'Souza, Rony D'Cunha and others.
Lorna, while conveying her regards to all her fans though daijiworld.com, promised them of a memorable and fascinating show on Friday. "I am confident that we will attract a huge crowd for the event," said she, with enthusiasm.
While Lorna arrived on Monday from Mumbai, all other artistes who participate in show will be ariving from Mangalore, Mumbai and Kuwait by Wedensday and Thursday.
