Udupi, May 9: The thieves who broke open into a house at Bhaskarnagar near Ucchila here have decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 2 lac and Rs 3,000 in cash on Sunday May 7 night.
The theft took place in one Nafeesa's house at Bhaskarnagar. Nafeesa was not in the house when the theft took place. Her husband Abdul Razak who works in Gulf had come home on holidays in the last month. He had left abroad only in the last week. On Sunday Nafeesa along with her children had gone her parental house.
But when she came on Monday morning, she found her house ransacked. Later she found that the thieves had stolen only 20 sovereigns of gold and Rs 3,000 in cash. No other valuables have been stolen from the house. The thieves had entered the house after breaking open the front door of the house.
The total value of the stolen ornaments is said to be Rs 2 lac. The Padubidri police have registered a case in this regard. The sniffer dogs and finger prints experts too were summoned the place.
