Mangalore, May 10: The common complaint that there are few takers for competitive examinations from the State, and more so from the education hub of the State, Mangalore, is evident from this year's Indian Administrative Service (IAS) results.

It is disheartening to know that only 23 people appeared for the examinations from Karnataka. Out of this small number only one was from Dakshina Kannada district.

Abdul Ahad Puttige of Moodbidri has secured the 310th rank in the IAS exams.

Abdul has already been nominated deputy superintendent of police and is undergoing training at the Karnataka Police Academy at Mysore.
