Mangalore, May 12: A symposium on empowerment of residential schools was organised by the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, in collaboration with the department of social welfare and VALEROD here on Thursday May 11.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA N Yogish Bhat said that the quality of education in residential schools, run by the social welfare department, was poor and they also failed to fulfil their objectives. He suggested that the department of education should take over the management of these schools in order to improve the quality of education.
On the occasion, he released a booklet entitled "Study of the Residential Schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts." District ZP president Mamata Gatti informed that the ZP has made it mandatory for women hostels to appoint women wardens.
