AAP Minister did not tamper with evidence: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Jan 14 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday defended Law Minister Somanth Bharti asserting that his cabinet colleague did not tamper with  evidence.

According to media report Bharti and his client Pawan Kumar are facing prosecution on corruption charges - after the CBI accused them of influencing a prosecution's witness by speaking to him on phone and discussing it.

"Somnath Bharti was trying to save a junior level officer and the sting operation that has been done is being called tampering of evidence by the judges," Kejriwal told reporters.

"We are ready to give the recording and then you can see and tell where has the tampering been done. I have told Somnath that the recording be played in the media,"  he added.

Explaining the case, the chief minister said: "We need to understand the entire case. This is almost a Rs.100 crore corruption case. It was a a fraud within the bank."

"Whenever anybody exports anything, a letter of credit is received against the consignment. False letters Of credit were raised and senior bank officials were involved," added Kejriwal.
He also pointed out that the CBI made a junior level desk officer Pawan Kumar a scapegoat and arrested him.

"Everybody was talking in the bank and openly accepting that they had put him (Pawan Kumar) in the trap. Pawan Kumar did a sting operation and called all senior officers," Kejriwal said.

"Whatever, they were saying was recorded, there was no tampering of the evidence  instead court was being given more evidence," he said.

There was a ray of hopes when AAP routed Congiss and denied BJP rule in Delhi. But after one week from the Delhi Election results, they were singing a chorus like no Congress no BJP. Then went for People’s opinion to form the Government and they got 75% approval from the Delhi people, but little did they forgot to understand that remaining 25% people disagree to form a Government with the help of Congress. These 75% or 25% are none other than those people who voted for AAP in Delhi Election. It means those who voted for AAP previously now disagree with their own party by 25%. As we can see under present scenario, Kejriwal too become defensive like any Delhi Neta unlike he was attacking every one even for small reason earlier. Whether Kejriwal learned politics fully or not but no doubt he became fully “Indian Politician” for sure

Oh Jossey, I wish your dream could come true soon. But I am sure they can’t overtake Congiss forever in corruption cases. By the way, one of our friends offered MP Seat on Congiss Ticket yesterday

Kejriwal believes that he and his team are the only honest people in India. He gives character certificates to other political parties, but when it comes to his own he says even court was wrong. By the way he and Kapil Sibal were hugging each other like long lost friends meet. Like Congress, he remembered it was Eid yesterday, but forgot about Sankranthi, Lori, Pongal Nautanki baaz

Earlier, before coming to power AAP used to hold so many press meets with allegations against many politicians like, Kurshid, Sheila, Gadkari, etc and used to demand resignations merely on allegations. Now when the court says in clear terms that Somnath Bharti was indicted for 'tampering with proof', Kejriwal says it is not true. If court observations are not accepted, then what we can expect from this naxal party?

We need to understand the entire case. Just digging one issue about tampering evidence, it is very important that the Rs. 100 Crore bank fraud is immediately brought to public domain. Time the truth comes out rather the Congress and BJP start targeting the AAP. AAP will definitely face more problems in the days, weeks and months to come. Congress will not allow them to rule for the full 5 years as both Congress and BJP dislike growth of the common man.

Dear Eric, the AAP need to be more wary about the BJP than the Congress as the BJP stand to lose more than the Congress with AAP's rising popularity, especially because the BJP have got a sniff of getting to power with the so called Modi wave and they will not want AAP to spoil their chances.

I support Congress's ideologies, but I certainly would not mind if AAP keeps Modi out of power if the Congress cannot. I am sure people like me who are concerned about the poison of communal instability/disharmony in Indian Society won't mind supporting anybody who will keep Modi away from power.

Dear Declan, You keep dreaming of keeping Modi out. You are ok with a pathetic life of ours due to price rise, corruption and tax on everything. But not ok with leaving your communal preferences of Congress ideologies.
