Moodbidri, May 12: "Alva's Sanjeevini - 2006", a national level seminar on ayurveda was inaugurated at the Sundari Anand Alva Campus near here on Wednesday May 11 by stated medical education minister Dr V S Acharya.
In his inaugural speech he said that the gradually but steadily the world was waking up to ayurveda's efficacy. He also lamented that ayurveda system of medicine has largely been neglected in its own birth place whereas it is being nurtured and used in foreign countries such as China, Germany, Japan, USA etc.
Dr Velayudhan Nayar, principal of Tiruvantapuram based Pankaja Kasturi Ayurveda College was the chief guest of the inaugural function. In his address he called on to protect the ayurveda system of medicine which has come to the present generation as a gift from the Vedas.
MLA K Abhaychandra Jain presided over the function. Former MLA Amaranth Shetty, Alva's Ayurveda College principal Dr K Laksmeesha Upadhyaya was also present on the occasion.
Alva's Education Trust president Dr M Mohan Alva welcomed the gathering while Dr Subrahmanya Padyan proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Zinnith D'Souza compered the programme.
Students, professors, researchers from 84 ayurveda colleges from all over the country are participating in the 3 day national seminar.
