Bharat Gold Mines revival through global bidding

New Delhi, Jan 17: The Congress-led UPA regime has taken the initiative for revival of the loss-making and closed public sector undertaking, Bharat Gold Mines Ltd (BGML), at Oorgaum in Kolar Gold Fields of Karnataka.
 
BGML had been closed since 2001.

An agreement for the revival of BGML through the global bidding process was signed in Delhi at the Union Ministry of Mines in the presence of Mines Minister Dinsha J Patel and MSME Minister of State with independent charge K H Muniyappa between the Chairman and Managing Director of Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd (MECL) and Managing Director in-charge of BGML Dr Gopal Dhavan and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of MECON Ltd., a central PSU and a premier consultancy organization A K Tyagi.

The additional Secretary and Financial Advisor, Joint Secretary, and other Senior Officials of Ministry of Mines, MECL and MECON were also present during the ceremony.

MECON (PSU, Ministry of Steel) has been engaged as consultant to BGML for providing consultancy services for Global Bidding Process.
