Mangalore, May 13 (Saturday, 7-15 pm): The much-awaited SSLC results were announced on Saturday May 13 here at 1.30 pm. The results were declared at all district exam centres and schools, said T M Kumar, director, Secondary Education Board. A pass percentage of 68.46 per cent has been recorded, which is the highest in the last few years.
Out of a total of 8,23,940 students who answered the examination 5,64,035 have passed. As before, girls have outdone the boys. Out of 4,58,685 boys, 3,03,588 have passed whereas among 2,60,447 girls the pass percentage is 71.31 per cent.
This was the first time that SSLC exam was conducted under the new scheme. The results show that more students can pass without much effort.
Unlike last year, this time the undivided Dakshina Kannada district surprisingly could not retain the top position in the districtwise results. Belgaum registered the highest pass percentage of 82.46 per cent, while Chikkodi came a close second with 81.97 per cent. The pass percentage in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are 75.73 per cent and 79.02 per cent respectively.
Out of 6,80,939 students who answered the examination for the first time, 4,90,561 have cleared. A total of 3646 repeaters have passed, said Kumar.
