Margao, May 16: Hosts Goa overcame a stiff challenge to down Orissa 3-1 in the final to lift the fifth Federation Cup Baseball Championship, played at Sag ground, Fatorda, here on MOnday.
Goa, who beat Karnataka 12-9 in the semi-finals, got the better of Orissa with Sidesh Naik scoring twice and Gautam Gawde scoring once.
Lok Mohan reduced the margin for the losers, who beat Chandigarh with a thumping 15-0 margin in the semi-finals.
Goa, who have dominated the national championships for quite some time since their entry in 1994, had won the senior national championship last year.
Yesterday, the Goan girls stamped their superiority, winning their maiden Federation Cup by edging past Delhi 2-1 in a ding-dong battle which saw Goa keeping nerves till the end to win the title.
For Goa, Eugeina Vaz and Henna Gaude scored one home each.
