Indian food firms to showcase products at Singapore expo


New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS): Major Indian food and hospitality companies led by industry body the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will showcase their products and services at a Singapore expo to be held in April this year.

According to Singapore Exhibition Services, organiser of the event, Indian participation at the biennial event is expected to increase by 80 percent this year.

Some 20 Indian companies participated in previous edition of the expo called Food and Hotel Asia (FHA). The is organised by Singapore Exhibition Services. This year's event will be held April 8-11. It will also organise Wine and Spirits Asia (WSA) simultaneously.

"FHA2014 and WSA2014 provide an ideal platform for Indian companies to discuss the latest food and hospitality industry trends and issues. We have seen the event growing bigger and have benefitted greatly from the exposure the show has offered," said J Shanker, a director at CII.

Indian companies that have booked their space to participate at the expo include Allanasons Limited, Mitora Machinex Private Limited, Pentair Water India and Elite Global Products.

Addressing a media conference here, Lindy Wee, director of conference at Singapore Exhibition Services said mostly small and medium size companies will participate at the event.

According to Wee, over 2,800 exhibitors from 70 countries are likely to participate at the expo. Indian participation will be significant," she said. This is the 19th edition of the biennial event.

"Over the years, FHA has grown with the development of the region's hotel and food and beverage industry to become its top sourcing platform, and pinnacle trade event," said Stephen Tan, chief executive of show organiser Singapore Exhibition Services.
