Mangalore, May 16:
The Karnataka State Akshara Dasoha Employees' Association, DK District Committee has urged the government to increase the monthly remuneration of Akshara Dasoha workers to Rs 500 from the forthcoming academic year.

The members of the association put forward this demand apart from several others through organising a massive protest rally from Lady Hill to DK Zilla Panchayat office near Kottara on Monday, May 15.

The scheme which is has received wide appreciation has been injust to the employees under it. The State Government has not increased the remuneration being given to the workers since 2002. Further the employees do not have any job security, but are provided maternity leave and other facilities.

They agitators demanded to reconsider the workers employed in the previous year during the new academic year too, and demanded maternity facilities besides extra leaves. They also pressurised the government to formulate service regulations for the Akshara Dasoha workers.

A delegation led by Padmavathi S Shetty submitted a memorandum to ZP president Mamatha D S Gatti.

Karnataka State Akshara Dasoha Employees Association, DK District Committee president Padmavathi Shetty, Yashoda, Geetha, Ramani Moodbidri and CITU district general secretary Vasanth were present.
