Moodbidri, May 18: Valuables, gold ornaments and cash worth more than Rs 1 lac was reported in the serial theft at Beluvai the small hours of Wednesday May 17.

The thieves who broke open into fours shops including a finance concern have also stolen a stereo, speaker and battery from an autorickshaw.

While the thieves have decamped with 3 sovereigns of gold and Rs 200 in cash from Durga Jewellers, Rs 1,000 was stolen from the nearby Venkateshwara Grocery shop. Later the thieves who broke into one finance concern owned by Simon Mascarenhas have stolen Rs 18,000 while 30 watches and Rs 500 in cash was stolen from a watch repairs shop.

The Moodbidri police led by SI Surendra have visited the place and have booked a case in this regard.  The investigation is on.  It is suspected that some local might have been involved in the serial theft.
