Wear prescription lenses with Google Glass

New York, Jan 29 (IANS): Google Glass is being integrated into prescription frames - a decision that is set to enhance the appeal of the internet-connected eyewear.

The move is to address those who need prescriptions to correct their vision.

The latest attempt by Google is to make its eyewear more fashionable and consumer friendly before it releases the product toward the end of 2014.

The prescription lenses would be available in a set of newly designed, fashion-conscious frames that will cost $225 each.

The US tech giant is also adding three options for sunglasses that will cost $150 each.

“This new Titanium line would include four frame shapes called curve, thin, split and bold,” said a Google Glass blog posting.

“Whether you wear prescription glasses or just want a new look, we've got four feather-light titanium frames designed just for you,” it added.

Currently, the $1,500 Google Glass is in the test phase.

The developers are creating apps for the eyewear which can range from sharing videos to playing games.

“I think you need to give the technology a chance to breathe and evolve,” Google Glass spokesperson Chris Dale was quoted as saying.

Googla Glass can shoot videos, help read e-mails, give directions or display cricket scores onto a tiny screen above the wearer's right eye.
