Bantwal, May 19: The fifth annual mass marriage of Dalits, 'Dalit Jagruti Samavesh-2006' is scheduled to be held on Sunday May 21 here. The mass marriage has been in collaboration with Jodumarga Janapriya Service Trust and Karnataka State Dalit Mahasabha.

The function will be presided over by Nehru Cha Olekar, organising president, state Dalit Mahasabha while union government former minister Srinivas Prasad will inaugurate the proceedings.

The chief guests will be former minister B Ramanath Rai, Fisheries minister B Nagaraj Shetty, Kannada movie actor K Shivaram, Vittal MLA K Padmanabha Kottari, State Dalit Mahasabha treasurer H K Basavaraj, director D N Halesh Nalkudure, town panchayat president B Dinesh Bhandary and Puttur B-Tech Computer Education Institute managing director Janardhan Bolanthoor.

Mysore Basava Kendra, Mahalingeshwar math pontiff Basavalingmurthi Sharana Swami and Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Sayyid Azim Alisha Chisti are expected to attend the function.
