New Delhi, Jan 30 (IANS): Multinational defence, security and aerospace company BAE Systems has named John Brosnan managing director of its India operations. Dean McCumiskey, who has successfully completed his tenure leading the company’s India presence will be taking on a new assignment within BAE Systems, a company statement said.
Mark Simpkins has been appointed vice president and general manager for India and will lead the company’s business development activities in the country.
Brosnan “will build on the solid foundation the company has established in India and continue to lead the regional headquarters for Southeast Asia and India in Kuala Lumpur, strengthening relationships with customers and industrial partners, as well as developing new business opportunities across the region”, the statement said.
Previously, as a senior vice president for offsets and operations Brosnan managed the delivery of the company’s multi-billion dollar industrial partnership programmes in 20 countries across the globe.
Having joined the company in 2008 as director for corporate development, Brosnan “focused on identifying key international markets such as India and developing the Company’s strategic approach to growth markets”, the statement said.
Brosnan joined BAE Systems from the British government where he worked in a variety of roles, including over 10 years in the defence ministry on equipment acquisition, logistics and international security collaboration. He also worked in UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) as a regional director and business development director.
Commenting on his new role, Brosnan said: “India serves a key role in increasing our international business. Our longstanding history, solid footprint, and focus on forging domestic partnerships and on programme execution positions us well to enhance and grow our presence in India. I look forward to continue to do important work for India, in India, with India.”
An MBA from the London Business School, Brosnan is also a graduate of the Whitehall and Industry Group’s Senior Leaders’ Programme and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management.
Headquartered in New Delhi, BAE Systems India has a six-decade long history. It has worked closely with the government to establish an indigenous production capability at Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for the Hawk advanced jet trainer which is in service with the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy. In addition, the company is developing a range of opportunities across the land, naval and the C4ISR sectors in collaboration with domestic industrial partners.
