Mumbai, Jan 31 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets was trading flat at 16.93 points or 0.08 percent up in the pre-noon trade Friday.
Good buying was observed in the IT, metal and technology, media and entertainment (TECK) sectors, while selling pressure was seen in the auto sector.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,544.64 points, was trading at 20,515.18 points in the pre-noon session, up 16.93 points or 0.08 percent from the previous day's close at 20,498.25 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 20,572.32 points and a low of 20,469.26 points during the trade so far.
The S&P BSE IT index gained 109.82 points, metal index augmented by 94.58 points and TECK index moved up by 66.18 points. However, auto index dropped by 82.88 points.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading flat at 7.95 points or 0.13 percent up at 6,081.65 points.
