Vijay Goel elected to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan

Jaipur, Jan 31 (IANS): Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Delhi unit chief Vijay Goel was Friday elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.

Talking to media here after his election, Goel said: "Around 60 percent of Rajasthan is desert. It needs to be granted special status to expedite the development process."

A three-time Lok Sabha member, Goel Tuesday filed his nomination papers in the state where the BJP swept back to power in the December assembly elections.
