Ghaziabad, Feb 1 (IANS): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) board has approved its Dilshad Garden extension project to New Bus Stand here following issuance of a no objection certificate from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, said a Ghaziabad civic body official Friday.
Ghaziabad Development Authority vice chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav said the DMRC board approved the 9.71 km stretch estimated to cost about Rs.1,770 crore. There would be seven elevated stations -- Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala and New Bus Stand -- in Ghaziabad.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority would share 50 percent of the total cost and other agencies like Nagar Nigam, Avas Vikas and UPSIDC would bear the remaining amount.
"On New Year, we met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his Kaushambi residence and apprised him of our concern on the metro project and pipeline project which is lying pending with the Delhi Jal Board for approval. The CM was very positive and assured us of clearing the projects at the earliest. We have sent the written request as he asked us to send it in writing," said Yadav.
