Islamabad, Feb 1 (IANS): At least four suspected militants were killed and 50 others rounded up in a targeted raid in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The operation carried out by police and security personnel is still in progress, Dawn online reported Saturday.
Police officer Haji Khan said the raid was launched after security personnel received a tip off that militants had occupied a primary school in Swabi district.
When police and security personnel raided the school, the militants began firing. The gunfight continued for an hour in which four militants were killed.
A huge quantity of explosives, arms and ammunition were also seized during the raid.
Swabi is the hometown of Khalid Haqqani, a leader of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. Attacks have increased in the district since he took charge.
