Bangalore, May 20: The long-awaited pre-university results may at last be declared on Monday, according to minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basavaraj Horatti.

Speaking to reporters here at a press conference on Friday May 19, Horatti informed that the delay in announcing the results was due to a virus that had affected the software developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). The Directorate of Pre-University Education is making round-the-clock efforts to announce the results as soon as possible, he said.

He blamed the former director of NIC, B V Sharma for not cooperating and failing to upgrade the five-year old software that did not adapt with the new system of marks followed this year. He also blamed the colleges for sending the internal assessment marks of the students in written format, which meant the marks had to be fed into computers manually.

However, the new director of NIC, A Venkatesan has corrected the problems in the software so the results are likely to be out on Monday, he informed but did commit himself.

Horatti had earlier announced that the results would be out on May 15 without consulting the PU department and without realizing the technical difficulties. But later the date of announcement was postponed indefinitely owing to technical snags in the system.
