11 killed in Nigeria church attack


Abuja, Feb 2 (IANS): At least 11 people were killed in an armed attack on a church in Nigeria's Adamawa sate, an official said Sunday.

Ularamu Maina, chairman of Madagali government area, said the church was attacked during a prayer vigil Friday night, reported Xinhua.

Maina, the pastor of the church, and 10 other congregants lost their lives in the attack.

The attack is believed to have been carried out by the Boko Haram, a sect which has proved to be a major security threat in Nigeria since 2009.
