Microsoft names Satya Nadella as next CEO

New York, Feb 4 (PTI): Software giant Microsoft today named Hyberabad-born Satya Nadella as its new Chief Executive Officer, replacing Steve Ballmer.

"As Satya Nadella becomes the third CEO of Microsoft, he brings a relentless drive for innovation and a spirit of collaboration to this new role," Microsoft said in a statement.

Nadella, 46, is taking over at a time when the world's largest software company is expanding its focus to devices and cloud infrastructure.

"The opportunity ahead for Microsoft is vast, but, to seize it, we must move faster, push harder and continue to transform," Nadella said in the statement.

"During this time of transformation, there is no better person to lead Microsoft than Satya Nadella," Microsoft founder and former Chairman Bill Gates said.

Gates said that Nadella is a proven leader with hard-core engineering skills, business vision and the ability to bring people together.

"His vision for how technology will be used and experienced around the world is exactly what Microsoft needs as the company enters its next chapter of expanded product innovation and growth," Gates said.

Formerly Executive Vice President of the Cloud and Enterprise Group at the software giant, Nadella was leading the development of one of the largest cloud infrastructures in the world.

Gates will assume a new role as Technology Advisor and devote more time to the direction of the company's products and technology.

In August last year, while launching its search for a new CEO, its then chief executive Steve Ballmer had said he will step down in the next 12 months.

Born in Telugu speaking Brahmin Family in Hyderabad..

Studied Electrical Engineering in MIT, Manipal..

Last week I wrote a comment about reservation and explained why Brahmins, Konkanis occupy top posts in private sectors and why reserved class people lag behind.

Jain community are hard working people. They are masters in business and education sectors. Last week Pappu has put a barrier for them. And this is what one of our PM candidates, this is his caliber. What to do, he says he wants to go backward when Obama says Indians and Chinese will close the rooms for Americans.

    Mr.Dinesh Poojary,
I remember reading your previous comment also. And this one also thought provoking. I appreciate your thinking angle. This reservation was good earlier times when people were ignorant. But now it's really a barrier. One should climb up with merit.. Now its like...I will arrange ladder for you to climb up. BUT You should have that capacity to climb up the ladder...is the essence of the topic.

Happy moment for all of us our man (from Manipal) reached the Top position as CEO of Software giant Microsoft.
His appointment also proves that, US accords highest priority to talent over nationality and discards racism, caste or whatever kind of obstacles coming on the way of its talents first priority.

Americans recognize talents and promote it. They never underestimate the capacity of any one, just because he/ she belongs to any particular country. Congrats Nadella.

To be specific, The Wal Street Journal(USA) reported that he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology. Regardless of his native place (Hyderabad), we Mangaloreans have something to celebrate. Our Educational Institutions are our pride. May the current and future generation of students be inspired to emulate his hard work and dedication. May God bless all our teachers who go unnoticed even after their students have reached the heights of success.
