Blast in Libya school injures 12 children

Benghazi, Feb 5 (IANS): Twelve students suffered injuries when an explosive device went off in a private school in Libya's Benghazi city Wednesday, security sources said.

The incident occurred when an explosion hit Mahd Al Maarafa private school in the city's Al Fuwayahat area, leaving 12 students injured, two of them critically, Xinhua quoted a security official as saying.

Unidentified men threw the device from outside the school during a breakfast break when students were in the courtyard, the official said, adding that investigations were underway to identify the motive behind this "criminal act."

Meanwhile, another security source said that seven students were expelled Tuesday from the school after being found violating the school's rules and regulations.
