Mangalore, May 22: A vain attempt by thieves to loot Corporation Bank NRI branch at Jeppu-Valencia here has come to light on Monday May 22 morning.
It is assumed that the theft attempt might have taken place on Saturday May 20 night. The thieves have entered the bank by breaking open the entrance door. Thereafter they have tried to open the vault.
Having failed in their attempt to open the vault, they have searched for the key in all the drawers ransacking the entire bank. Most of the bank papers, records were found on the floor. The thieves have also tried to break the door with the help of iron rod.
The Corporation Bank branch at Jeppu-Valencia handles the NRI transactions. So the thieves might have hatched a plan, said the sources.
Pandeshwar police have booked a case in this regard.
