Chennai, Feb 16 (IANS): Pune's Ankit Gupta completed a fine double in the first round of the FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship here Sunday.
Competing in the Group D 165cc class, Gupta, winner of the first race Saturday, continued his domination by triumphing in the second outing Sunday, sparing three seconds to second-placed Rajiv while Deva U. came in third.
In the Group C 165cc Open, Jagan Kumar of TVS Racing riding a TVS Apache took the honours after Saturday's winner Sarath Kumar retired on the last lap due to mechanical problems.
Jagan thus came away with two podium finishes following his second place Saturday. His victory in the second race though was hard-fought as Mathana Kumar on a Yamaha R15 kept pace. The two exchanged leads until Jagan Kumar managed to pull away in the closing stages of the six-lap race.
