Samkova wins snowboard cross for Czech first medal at Sochi

Sochi, Feb 16 (IANS): The 2014 X Games runner-up Eva Samkova claimed Czech Republic's first medal at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, triumphing in the women's snowboard cross race Sunday.

Dominique Maltais of Canada, bronze medallist in the 2006 Olympics, went one better by winning the silver, reports Xinhua.

France's Chloe Trespeuch, 19, took the bronze.
