Dubai, Feb 17 (IANS): A Pakistani domestic help has been sentenced to one year in prison for sexually assaulting a six-year-old Indian schoolgirl here.

The 29-year-old Pakistani man is believed to have taken the girl from her neighbour’s apartment where she was attending a party around 11.30 p.m. Oct 18 last year, the Khaleej Times reported Monday.

The Dubai Court of First Instance found him guilty of sexually assaulting the girl on the terrace of the building where the girl used to live with her parents.

The defendant will be deported after he completes his jail sentence.

The girl’s mother, 42, said that she saw her daughter looking disturbed and scared shortly after the incident.

“She entered the apartment and told me to shut the door. As I asked her where she was, she recounted that the defendant took her by her hand to the terrace after gagging her,” the mother of the girl said.

The man allegedly made her touch him and performed a sexual act on her.

The mother said that she had dressed her daughter and told her to go to the party saying that she would join her later.

But a few minutes later, she was surprised to see her neighbour’s son looking for her daughter and got frightened.

As she was about to go out to look for her girl, she saw the latter standing at the door looking disturbed.

She was shocked to hear about what the defendant did to her.

The verdict can be challenged within 15 days.
