Torino rally to beat Verona in Serie A

Rome, Feb 18 (IANS): Torino fought back from a goal down to beat Verona 3-1 in an Italian Serie A match.

The hosts went ahead in the 36th minute through Luca Toni who converted a penalty Monday, reports Xinhua.

But Torino came back strongly in the second half, with Ciro Immobile's 13th league goal of the campaign levelling matters four minutes after the interval.

Four more minutes later, Giampiero Ventura's men seized the advantage as Alessio Cerci scored with a superb first-time shot from the edge of the box.

The three points, which moved Torino up to seventh at Verona's expense, were secured when Omar El Kaddouri found the back of the net just past the hour mark.

Torino head coach Ventura put the victory down to his Torino players' hard work.

"It doesn't matter what I said to my players," he said.

"All that matters is what the lads did.

"Today we scored three goals and played with real personality. We're definitely becoming more of a team," he added.
