Andhra Pradesh CM resigns

Hyderabad, Feb 19 (IANS): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy Wednesday announced his resignation to protest bifurcation of the state.

He also said that he is quitting the Congress party.

"I am resigning from the post of the chief minister, as MLA and also from Congress party," he said while addressing a news conference along with some of his cabinet colleagues and legislators.

He said he had taken the decision as the Congress by dividing the state had done grave injustice to Telugu-speaking people.

Kiran Reddy said he would request governor to make alternate arrangements as early as possible.
