Udupi, May 25: Within a few days of 6 persons being diagnosed with Chicken Gunya fever, 2 cases have now been reported for the first time from the district too. Earlier Chicken Gunya had caused panic in the northern districts.
However, with two persons being diagnosed in the district too, the health department has taken all necessary steps to face any situation in the coming days. The district health department has sent the blood samples of both the persons to a lab in Bangalore for further verification.
Speaking to the reporters district health officer Dr Rohini said that the disease has entered the district through the persons who have come from the northern districts. There are many migrant workers in the districts who often go their native place and come back. Some of them contact disease during this time which aggravates when they come back, said she.
