Sulabh awarded for providing low-cost toilets


New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS): The World CSR Congress awarded non-governmental organisation Sulabh International for providing low-cost toilets across the country, said an official statement released here Wednesday.

"On the occasion of World CSR Day yesterday (Tuesday), Sulabh International Social Service Organisation was awarded in Mumbai with the NGO Leadership and Excellence Award in providing low-cost toilets, used by more than one crore people everyday," it said.

Sulabh International was founded by Bindeshwar Pathak in 1970 with an aim to liberate manual scavengers and in the process develop low-cost toilets.
