Sindhu rises to World No.9


New Delhi, Feb 20 (IANS): World Championship bronze medallist P.V. Sindhu rose a place to a career-best position of No.9 in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released Thursday.

The 18-year-old is now only two places behind the top Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal, who is at No.7. Chinese Olympic gold medallist Li Xuerui leads the women's singles rankings.

In men's singles, Parupalli Kashyap remains India's highest ranked player at No.18 while rising shuttler Kidambi Srikanth dropped a place to No.21. Mumbai's Ajay Jayaram remained on No.22. Malaysian legend Lee Chong Wei leads the men's rankings at No.1.

No Indian figures in the top-25 of the men's, women's and mixed doubles rankings.
