Deaths in Gurgaon road accidents


Gurgaon, Feb 24 (IANS): The number of deaths from fatal road accidents in Gurgaon has gone down, police said Monday.

A total of 35 people have died in road accidents in this suburban town of Delhi in January 2014 while the number of accuidental deaths was 47 in the same month a year ago.

A total 35 fatal accidents were registered in January this year in various police stations, in which nine people also received injuries.

"The decrease was following strict action by traffic police," a senior police officer told IANS.

During the day time, 14 such mishaps took place in which 17 pedestrians, eight two-wheeler riders, one three-wheeler rider, seven light vehicle and two heavy vehicle riders were killed.

Maximum accidents (10) took place on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway while Sohna Road came second with five incidents.

During the same month in 2013, 43 cases were registered with 47 people losing their lives and 15 getting injured.

In December 2013, 48 people were killed and 13 were injured in a total of 45 cases, police officials said.
