SC rejects Subrata Roy's plea against appearance

New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS): The Supreme Court Tuesday rejected a plea by Sahara group chief Subrata Roy seeking exemption from personal appearance in court on Wednesday.

An apex court bench headed by Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan declined the plea, mentioned by senior counsel Ram Jethmalani.

The Supreme Court had directed Subrata Roy and three other directors of his real estate and housing finance company to appear before it in person for the failure by the two companies to return investors the balance of Rs.19,000 crore that they had collected through OFCDs (optionally fully convertible debentures).
