Mumbai, Feb 25 (IANS): A benchmark index of Indian equities markets was trading flat at 35.57 points or 0.17 percent up in the pre-noon trade Tuesday.
Good buying was observed in the consumer durables and IT sectors, while selling pressure was seen in the metal and banking index (bankex) sectors.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,877.72 points, was trading at 20,847.01 points in the pre-noon session, up 35.57 points or 0.17 percent from the previous day's close at 20,811.44 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 20,912.54 points and a low of 20,843.78 points during the trade so far.
The S&P BSE consumer durables index gained 124.90 points and IT index got augmented by 79.35 points, while metal dipped by 64.77 points and bankex went down by 6.50 points.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading flat at 12.95 points or 0.21 percent at 6,199.05 points.
