Pakistani fighter jets kill 30 militants

Islamabad, Feb 25 (IANS): Pakistani fighter jets and helicopter gunships Tuesday bombarded hideouts of the Taliban militants in the Waziristan region, killing at least 30 militants.

The attacks on the hideouts in Waziristan tribal regions were the fourth in a series of air strikes by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) since Feb 20.

At least 30 militants were killed in the air strikes in the region stretched between south and north Waziristan, Geo News reported citing a security official.

The fighter jets have been pounding the hideouts since the government's efforts to engage the Pakistani Taliban in peace negotiations failed last week.

The militants hideouts in Shawal valley and Dattakhel areas of Waziristan were attacked where their training centres are located.
