Mumbai, Feb 25: "It is not an easy task to sustain an organization. Jayashrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (JSKPPS), a metro-based NGO has proved its mantle by organizing its anniversary here.  The founder, Jayakrishna Shetty deserves credit in this regard.  The natives of coastal district of Karnataka, whose mother tongue is Tulu are well known in metro for their contributions in almost every sphere.  The Kannadigas who had set up their businesses in Karachi during pre-Independence era, are known worldwide", said union surface and national highways minister Oscar Fernandes.

The minister Oscar delivered his talk in native Tulu, during the thirteenth anniversary of JSKPPS at the late Dr K Sanjeev Shetty stage erected at Radhabai Timmappa Bhandary auditorium, Bunts Bhavan, Kurla (East) here on Saturday February 22.

The minister further said that the Karnataka coast that was visited by Portuguese explorer Vasca Da Gama has already become tourism spot.

The mega industries that are environmentally dangerous will not be allowed to set foot in Dakshina Kannada district, said minister Oscar without mentioning the proposed Niddodi project.  Konkan Railway was the dream of T.M.A.Pai, while the work is underway to double the train
tracks for better connectivity across the nation, said minister Oscar.

The mother's edge of sari that she wore used to hold the savings in cash once upon a time in undivided DK district, while the farmers have to further grow. Coastal residents always worked hard for their living.  "I have carried cow-dung, tilled the paddy fields with the oxen, all those struggles given me insight into life that are helping me to make the best of opportunities. The roads need to be developed as in a few villages it's difficult to find asphalt as the tar road has already withered beyond recognition. The natives of coastal district are known in the nation for their accountability.  JSKPPS has been striving on nation building by uniting the coastal residents. The Mumbaikars are indeed generous.  The road from Agumbe where I practiced driving will be broadened shortly," said minister Oscar.

JSKPPS honorary president Padmabhushan Professor B M Hegde in his presidential address said that "one should not make others to wait, but I was forced due to flight delay.  One can only get status by hard work, which the new generation got to know.  There is nothing in science that youth are inclined to. There lies greater contribution of Tulu - Kannadigas to make their names in metro. The one who serves selflessly is truly a humanitarian deed.  One should get rid of the hatred and never bother about the past and future, in order to lead happy life. JSKPPS acknowledges the support of George Fernandes to develop second runway at Mangalore Airport.

"Jayakrishna was offered ticket to contest LS polls by George Fernandes during 2004, while Jayakrishna denied being genuinely interested in the development of undivided DK district.  It's his noble deed indeed. At the prevailing circumstances, the mankind is least concerned of fellowmen, therefore there is greater need to change this mind set.  The moon mission is not so important than to love one's neighbor with visits to their homes", said Professor Hegde.

MLA Krishna Hegde said that JSKPPS indeed does great job with its environment concern that is crucial to mankind.

Bunts Sangha President CA Shankar Shetty said that "JSKPPS is clear about its objective that is environmental protection and unitedifferent communities of undivided DK district for common good and prosperity.  Meanwhile, Jayakrishna has genuine interest for the progress of undivided DK, and in this regard due emphasis should be given to education.  Because, all these years, money has been lavishly
spent on Nemotsav, Bhoota Kola - contemporary Tulunadu worship, which can be better utilized for setting up self employment", advised Shankar.

Bhandary Maga Mandala Past President Suresh Bhandary said that JSKPPS has been quietly going about its yeomen service, while the differences of opinions got to be given up to achieve progress in undivided DK district.

JSKPPS founder Jayakrishna Shetty in his emotionally-charged speech said that JSKPPS is surging ahead with the advices and visions of George Fernandes to involve in prosperity of undivided DK district.

UPCL has caused environmental destruction that seeks explanation from union government.  The several stations of Konkan Railway have no proper roofs that have to be installed for the comfort of passengers.

Janashatabdi Express train services exclusively between Mangalore and Mumbai needs to be introduced.  Konkan Railway should have double-tracks. The proposed ultra-mega project at Niddody ought to be shelved, said Jayakrishna.

JSKPPS President Harish Kumar Shetty in his welcome address said that JSKPPS had 90 percent of support and 10 percent critics who are a blessing in disguise to strive for better.  Netravati River turning project is impractical and deserves to be shelved, said Harish.

The veterans M.D.Shetty, Shimuje Parari and P.K.Salian were felicitated on the  occasion.

M.D.Shetty in acknowledgement of felicitation said that JSKPPS completed 12 years like Pandava who spent 12 years in wilderness and witnessed thirteenth anniversary celebration, which would bring success to its entire future endeavor. Jayakrishna has suffered mental anguish owing to reckless criticism from opponents, but nothing has deterred him from the set objective, said M.D.Shetty.

P K Salian said that JSKPPS brought prosperity to undivided DK district, because it has been conducted by less number of people coming to metro in search of jobs.  The felicitation indeed is the recognition of entire Kulala community, said Salian.

JSKPPS vice presidents Dharmapal U.Devadiga and L.V.Amin, undivided Dakshina Kannada (DK) district president Felix A D'Souza Taccode, vice president K P Jagdish Adikari, the heads of different communities of undivided DK district Kutpady Ramachandra M Ganiga, Girish G Salian, B
