Dubai, May 28: A floating bridge will be constructed over Dubai Creek to ease traffic congestion on Al Maktoum Bridge.

The bridge, which will be built about half a kilometre from Al Maktoum Bridge, will link Omar Bin Al Khattab Road in Deira to Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road in Bur Dubai.

It will be a temporary structure and is part of the Dubai Road and Transport Authority's swift-solution projects to ease traffic flow in the city, RTA sources told Gulf News.

A permanent bridge will replace the floating structure once the RTA completes the design for the former.

It will be the fourth bridge over Dubai Creek after the Al Maktoum and Al Garhoud bridges and the Ras Al Khor bridge, which is under construction.

Details of the floating bridge project will be announced by the authority on Monday.
