Kolkata, Feb 25 (IANS): Congress' West Bengal unit chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury Tuesday said he has not received any message from the party leadership about an alliance with the Trinamool Congress for the Lok Sabha polls, and exuded hope that there would be no tie-up between the two.
"I have not got any message from the high command since the day I became the state party president about forming any alliance with the Trinamool. I don't know what's going to happen at the top. But I hope no such message will come," Chowdhury told media persons here.
Chowdhury is known for his anti-pathy to Trinamool head Mamata Banerjee. The Murhisdabad strongman has bitterly opposed any understanding with the Trinamool.
The Congress and the Trinamool had fought the 2009 Lok Sabha and the 2011 assembly polls together. They broke up in September 2012, when the Trinamool quit the United Progressive Alliance protesting against its decisions to allow FDI in multi-brand retail, hike diesel prices and restrict the number of subsidised cooking gas cylinders.
