Srinagar, May 29: After the Al-Badr, another Pakistan-based militant outfit, the Harkat ul-Jihadi Islami (HuJI), has asked women in Jammu and Kashmir to shun mobile phones and to stay away from public parks.

"HuJI warns girls not to carry mobile phones and visit public parks," said a statement of the outfit that appeared in local newspapers in Srinagar on Sunday.

"Parents should control their girls. This is our final warning," the statement said.

On May 16, Al-Badr Mujahideen spokesman Abu Aatif Hijazi had said, "We appeal to parents not to allow their children to carry mobile phones to schools and colleges."

Though both militant groups did not gave any reason for their warnings, Kashmir observers feel the diktat was linked to the recent unearthening of a sex racket in Srinagar involving teenaged girls.

Holding cable television responsible for spreading immorality in the society, several militant groups imposed a ban on cable networks earlier this month.

The ban was revoked after cable operators dropped several entertainment channels.
