Tamil Nadu to set up 660 MW power station


Chennai, Feb 27 (IANS): In order to augment the state-owned power generation capacity, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Thursday laid the foundation stone for the 660 MW thermal power station near here.

She also handed over the work order for setting up the plant to Lanco Infratech officials at the state secretariat.

In a statement here, the state government said the total project cost is estimated at Rs.4,956 crore. The project is part of the expansion plans of the Ennore Thermal Power Station.

The proposed project will be of super critical thermal plant. Super critical boilers are those which can operate in high temperature.
