Musical tribute for German poet


Kolkata, Feb 27 (IANS): German poet Hans Magnus Enzensberger's works will be celebrated through live music by young artists here March 9, a release said.

Known to be conversational and lyrical, his poems will be brought to life by two British and three Indian artists at 'A History of Clouds' tribute concert to mark his 85th birthday.

Based on selections from his 2010 book 'A History of Clouds: 99 Meditations', the event will see musicians Alex Malseed and Davide Mariani from Britain and Varun Kishore, Nishad Pandey and Tanaji Dasgupta from India participate.

It is jointly organised by Seagull Books and Goethe-Institute/Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata and will be held at the G.D. Birla Sabhaghar auditorium in Kolkata.

Enzensberger was born Nov 11, 1929, and his writings were influenced by experiences of the Third Reich (Nazi Germany).
