Atal Bihari Vajpayee's niece Karuna Shukla joins Congress

New Delhi, Feb 28 (DHNS) : Karuna Shukla, the niece of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and TRS leader Vijayashanti on Thursday joined the Congress at a time when the party is grappling with desertions.

Congress top brass turned up in full strength to induct Shukla, a former MP from Chhatisgarh and a ex-vice president of the BJP, into the party. Among those present at the brief function the Congress headquarters included senior leaders Janardan Dwivedi, Motilal Vora, Ajit Jogi, and  B K Hariprasad. Shukla later met Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Shukla launched a broadside against BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi accusing him of taking the BJP away from the values practiced by Vajpayee.

Shukla had quit the BJP in October last year after facing humiliation in the party where she had taken her first lessons in politics.

The 63-year-old leader, who became MLA from BJP first in 1993, was unhappy over being sidelined in the party and had openly criticised the BJP leadership including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on many occasions in recent past. Congress leaders made the most of the situation to attack the BJP which has been witnessing prevalence of “bad culture that came there in recent years.”

Filmstar-turned-politician Vijayashanti, a prominent voice in the Telangana agitation, also joined the Congress on Thursday. She announced her decision to quit the TRS and join the Congress after a meeting with Sonia Gandhi on Thursday

Remember, once Rahul Gandhi said that 'BJP does not respect women and women have no power in BJP'. This is the reason Ms. Shukla joined Congress and soon, even Sushma Swaraj might join Congress or AAP...

BJP does not support the dynasty rule. Congress always believes and which supports sequence of rulers from the same family. Best local example is Veerappa Moily

If not supporting the dynastic rule is a matter of principle for the BJP then how come they conveniently compromise on their principle when it comes to taking support from dynastic allies ???????
    Is that not hypocrisy ???
Does that not double speak ???

We can derive many analogy from this incident of Ms.Shukla joining Congress. One clear analogy is that BJP does not believe or hold or force people to stick to their ideology, anyone who does not believe is welcome to say so or move out, this is very very unlikely to happen in congress though. Another analogy is when Shri.ABVji was at helm of affairs Ms.Shukla could benefit due to her being the niece and she was probably motivated to work for BJP (not for the party but for her uncle), but now the reins have changed and BJP is gearing up for a different kind of challenge and Ms.Shukla does not see any room for her to enforce her being niece of Shri.ABVji, the new leadership expects people to think different and work different which is probably shaking Ms.Shukla from her warm, cozy and comfortable home. The summary is Congress is desperately looking for any dissent in the opposite camps to just grab them / invite them into their folds and in a desperate attempt to make a show in this election 2014.... desperation is clearly written on every Congressmen's face and they are doing some or the other circus to latch on to a battle that they are going to loose eventually

This person from Kundapura/Bengaluru is an interesting person!!!
Tomorrow, even if modi joins congress, or Janata dal or AAP, he will call him 'rejected piece'!!!
This is what you call blind 'hero' worship. Tomorrow someone from the congress may join BJP or any other party, and they will be welcomed with open arms. its party hopping season. And we citizens are helpless, but have to vote for the so called politicians, who are almost all dongi

jaago dineshji jaago! Please don't expect modi to have a magic wand and wave off all India's ailing troubles. no party can do it. The way modi is being projected is like a 'saviour' for the masses.

The last saviour came to this world 2000 years ago. Since then we have had a lot of good men and women, but no saviours.

Just pray to the Almighty that we may not have the effects of the El-Nino phenomenon this year. Otherwise, people like you will have the weather to blame, and still praise "modiji"
