Close brothel, orders Delhi court


New Delhi, March 1 (IANS): A special court here ordered shutting down of a brothel here and awarded one year jail term to a woman for pushing a girl into flesh trade.

Fast Track court presided by Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja sentenced one year rigorous imprisonment to a woman under various section of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act.

The court in the past week ordered closure of the brothel on GB road, a redlight area.

It also slapped a fine of Rs.4,000 on the woman.

A complaint was received May 27, 2013 regarding the detention of a Andhra Pradesh woman, who was forced to work as a prostitute. Delhi Police conducted a raid and rescued the victim.

The victim alleged that she was brought to Delhi on the promise of a job but was pushed into flesh trade.
