New Delhi, March 2 (IANS): The NDMC plans to procure better quality insecticides for vector control programme in the heart of the capital, the civic body announced Sunday.
Awareness will also be created among resident welfare associations and market associations about the use of new coolers that will keep away mosquitoes, NDMC chairman Jalaj Shrivastava said in a statement.
A lab will be set up to identify vectors transmitting diseases for their timely prevention, he added. The New Delhi Municipal Council is the smallest of the three civic bodies in the capital.
The NDMC has set aside Rs.100.09 crore for public health and sanitation services for 2014-15.
The chairman said solid waste management would be upgraded in the NDMC area.
This will be done through an integrated system by collecting waste from doorsteps and transporting the garbage for disposal at the Timarpur-Okhala Waste Management Co Ltd plant in a scientific and mechanized manner.
