Mumbai: Bhutan delegation visit city on conference

Mumbai, Mar 2: Vardhman Foundation, and Government Law College invited a delegation of official from Bhutan the Chief Justice Supreme Court Hon'ble Lyonpo Sonam Tobgye, Justice Supreme Court Dasho  Tashi Chhozon, Attorney General Dasho Phuntsho Wangdi, Finance Minister Dasho Namgay Dorji, the Home Minister Dasho Damcho Dorji, Member of Parliament Dasho Ritu Raj Chhetri, and few others for a lecture on Dr B R Ambedkar's trancendential wisdom and influence on the Bhutanese Constitution. Also, present in the event were Justice V M Kannade, Justice S J Vazifdar and Rafique Dada, Senior Advocate of Bombay High Court amongst others.


The Bhutan delegates and the guests were warmly welcomed by Hon’ble Judge and also principal of Government Law College R.b. Malik. Mr. Rafique Dada took pride of being an allumini to Government Law College, also felt honoured and dignified to have amongst them the delegates present today from Bhutan, also the former students of Government Law College.


The lecture on Dr. Ambedkar Memorial was carried forward by Hon'ble Justice R.M Lodha, Judge, Supreme Court India, and Chief Justice Supreme Court Hon'ble Lyonpo Sonam Tobgye, who spoke about DrAmbedkar as a person, his views on Indian societies and his influence on the constitution of both India and Bhutan. Both agreed that Dr Ambedkar's legacy as a socio-political reformer had a deep effect on modern India. In post-Independence India his socio-political thought had acquired respect across the political spectrum.


Chief Justice Supreme Court Hon'ble Lyonpo Sonam Tobgye stated that initiatives taken by Dr. Ambedkar have not only influenced and transformed the way India today looks at socio-economic policies, education and affirmative action through socio-economic and legal incentives but also has influenced Bhutan. Both proudly stated that Dr. Ambedkar’s reputation as a scholar led to his appointment as free India's first law minister, and chairman of the committee responsible to draft a constitution.


Commenting on this auspicious day,  Rajesh Vardhan, trustee of Vardhman Foundation said," Dr B R Amedkar is an epitome of socio-economic and legal incentives who through his work has not only touched India but also many countries. Bhutan's relation with India has witnessed 46 years of mutual cooperation. We are quite honoured to have the delegations of Bhutan hear with us and lecturing over influence of  Ambedkar's work."
