Udupi, May 31: The rainy season has begun with a roar in the coastal districts of the state. The incessant rains have already caused much damage to life and public property.  On Tuesday May 30 morning one more person was killed at Padubidri near here after a tree collapsed and fell on him.

The deceased has been identified as Vasanth Kamat (45).  He owned a petty shop on Karkala-Padubidri Road.  On Tuesday morning he was going to his shop on riding his bicycle when an old pipal tree in front of the old police station fell on him.

As a result he sustained critical injuries and breathed his last on the spot.  The traffic on the road too was blocked after the tree fell on the road.  However, the branches were cut immediately in order to clear the road for traffic.
