Mangalore, Jun 2: Mangalore Chandana Utsava, cultural bonanza has been planned in Mangalore to spread awareness on Doordarshan. The event is organized by Doordarshan Kendra (Bangalore) in association with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and Sandesha Foundation and will be held at T M A International Convention Hall here on June 11.
Being the third Chandana Utasava, the event aims at taking Doordarshan closer to the hearts of people. Director of Doordarshan Mahesh Joshi who spoke in a press meet here on Thursday, May 1 said that event comprises of music and dance from well-known artistes as well by local talent and is also a platform for young talent for display.
A musical programme in memory of Kannada matinee idol, the late Rajkumar will also be held as part of the Utsava, he added.
The event will be telecast live on Chandana and Karnataka Regional Service (DD-1).
Mangalore Bishop Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza will be the chief guest while Dharmastala Dharmadikari Veerendra Heggade will preside over the programme.
