Karkala, Jun 2: Mumbai based tabla artiste Manoj Acharya has selected Karkala as the venue for his non-stop tabla concert which will go on for 60 hours.

The concert will be held at the Sri Venkataramana Temple here on June 3. Beginning from 7 am on June 3, Manoj will play the instrument till 7 pm of June 5.

The aim behind this great feat is not publicity or breaking records. Manoj who will perform before Sri Venkataramana intents to obtain blessings from the Lord and offer his concert in service to the divine.

Manoj’s roots lie in Karkala as his mother Prema Acharya hailed from Karkala. Under the tillage of world renowned tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain, Manoj has scaled great heights in playing the tabla. He is presently a music teacher at the Cambridge School in Andheri Mumbai.

At the 60-hour long tabla concert, Manoj will take a break of only 15 minutes on regular intervals and will consume only fruit juices.
